Disney

The other day the ladies, my BFF and her daughter, and I all returned from a week at DisneyWorld. As the bar I set for the vacation was very low, I would say it was a success. I really didn't want to go. This has been the worst year of my life. In all honesty, the kids and I are still reeling. The thought of spending a week at "the happiest place on Earth" was almost more than I could deal with. Add to that the fact that I dont really like DisneyWorld and that it was hotter than hell and it rained every single day.

Despite all that, the girls had fun. That is all I really cared about. I managed to pretend to be happy most days. B and B handled themselves fairly well, all things considered. Brynly was challenging at times. I can't blame her, really. She spent a lot of time waiting around for Birkely to ride things. There really isn't all that much for little kids to do in most of the parks. Naps were basically non existed. Her diet consisted almost exclusively of pizza and macaroni and cheese. Even so, she kept it together for the most part.

Birkely loves the thrill rides. So, she enjoyed the roller coasters and such. They both had fun meeting the characters. Brynly is still in that age where the divide between fantasy and reality is fuzzy, so she enjoyed seeing the characters. Birkely thought that was fun but was quite aware they were just actors in costumes. I am glad we did two character meal things. That way, we didn't have to stand in line to meet them. We stood in line to see Mickey and Minnie. The rest both girls passed on.

So, we went to Disney. I fulfilled that parental obligation. Given that both B and B spent much of the time wanting to go to the pool instead of the parks, I think I am safe to consider tropical beach locales for vacations now that this Disney stuff is out of the way.
