It is funny that so soon after I posted my last post about striving to be the mother I need to be we had an incident here on the homefront that has been the impetus for a paradigm shift.
I don't want to go into what happened. It is a long story. But it is one of those things that makes your mind go to a lot of scary "what if" scenarios.
My daughter and I realized some things last week. Some things were taken for granted by one and not fully believed by the other. They are no longer taken for granted and have now been demonstrated to a point of surity.
The rules of the house remain but the approach has been downgraded from somewhat of an unintended dictatorship to more of a democracy. The standard is still high but communication has been increased.
We each own our role in what has been and what needs to be.
Although last week took about ten years off my life, we are better for it.

Welcome aboard. No one said it would be easy or without "INCIDENT". Just stick to your ‘unloaded” guns. Your are correct, when you say that “honest” communication is the key to parenting.
